X120MN12 Grade Manganese Plates

Choudhary Metal offers premium quality Manganese Steel Plates and Sheets, also known as hard manganese steel or manganese wear-resistant steel. In its quenched condition, manganese steel has the unique ability to significantly increase its original tensile strength and hardness when subjected to intense cold working. This process strengthens the outer layer without affecting the steel’s naturally high toughness and durability.

The cold working process greatly improves the wear resistance of manganese steel, making it ideal for applications involving heavy impact and abrasion. Due to its exceptional toughness, the material can be easily bent, flanged, and pierced for various fabrication requirements. However, chipping or machining at room temperature with hard metal tools is limited because the surface becomes extremely hard after work hardening.

At Choudhary Metal, our Manganese Steel Plates and Sheets are widely used in industries such as mining, construction, cement, quarrying, and material handling, where high impact strength and abrasion resistance are essential for long-lasting performance.

Typical use of manganese steel

Hangers in blasting machines,
Crusher jaws
Crusher jaw inserts
Power shovel bolts
Power shovel connectors
Gripping teeth
Impact mills
Centrifugal mills
Protective grills
Doors
Cladding
Safety plates
It is used generally for intense percussion and impact stresses.
Manganese steel can be welded both electrically and autogenously. Electrical welding is, however, preferred because with autogenously welding procedures, burn-off of manganese and carbon may easily occur. Shielded electrodes at 0.8% - 1.0% C and 15 - 18% Mn must be used for electric welding. The wear resistance is somewhat lower at the weld seam than with the remaining material.
