Ferro Silicon

Ferro Silicon is an alloy composed of silicon and iron, with silicon content ranging from 15% to 90%. It is primarily used in steel and iron manufacturing as a deoxidizer and alloying agent.

Specifications:
• Silicon (Si): 70% minimum
• Aluminium (Al): 1.5% maximum
• Carbon (C): 0.1% maximum

  • Description
  • Additional Information
  • Applications

Ferro Silicon enhances the mechanical properties of steel and cast iron. It is produced by reducing silica (SiO₂) with carbon in the presence of iron. The silicon content typically ranges from 15% to 90%, with formulations including 15%, 45%, 75%, and 90% silicon.

  • Deoxidizes steel and other ferrous alloys

  • Serves as an alloying agent in steelmaking

  • Used in the production of silicon steel and stainless steel

  • Inoculates cast iron to accelerate graphitization

  • Acts as a source of silicon in various metallurgical processes
